Influence of Spatter Generation in Selective Laser Melting Processing

The project is the observation of the dynamics and influence of spatter on the solid bodies printed on the Selective Laser Melting (SLM) printer bed through a high-speed camera. Throughout the project, I along with group of 5 team member from different field, researched the spatter powder formation during the Additive Manufacturing Process and its impact on different industrial sectors such as aviation. The SLM printer was redesigned so that anti-spatter liquid is sprayed on the bed of the SLM printer to decrease the formation of spatter on solid bodies. A nozzle structure carrying the liquid was integrated inside the printer and was actuated with the help of an Ultrasonic sensor operated through Arduino. ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
